GEAR!!!!

When you first walk in to the dive shop, you will enter a new world of gear and equipment. It can be rather overwhelming for the novice diver, especially if you don't know exactly what you're looking for, but do not fear, I'll be your guide!
Lets first discuss the wonderful world of wetsuits. There are wetsuits for every occasion, seeing how this occasion is ab diving on the north coast of California, so I advise wearing a 2 piece with hood, gloves, and booties. The main body and hood should be 7 mil, the gloves and boots can be thinner.
When dealing with gear, specifically gear made of neoprene (wetsuits and such), it is very important to clean them after every dive, this keeps the neoprene from degrading quickly.

How long does a typical wetsuit last and what kind of maintenance does it require?
ReplyDeleteIf properly taken care of, a high quality wetsuit, such as Henderson or Aqua Lung could last you upwards of 20 years. Proper maintenance would be to thoroughly clean the wetsuit after every dive, and ensuring that you have a cool dry place for storage.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog topic, since I grew up around ab diving. It would be interesting to read the history of ab diving. When and where did people start diving and eating abalone? Will you be showing any pictures of an actual abalone? I will be back to to see how this blog progresses, so far I'm into it. My only critique would be, maybe just a little more writing for each blog, or more to look at.
